Samantha wakes up to find the bed empty and calls out for Peter.

In the foyer, Chandler is planning to take Heather on a working breakfast to discuss the flying wing but Heather would prefer breakfast in bed. Samantha interrupts asking for Peter. Heather insinuates that he is cheating on her before leaving the house.

"I swear Edward. That woman gets under my skin."
The butler replies, "Do what I always do Madam. Just close your eyes and think of England."

Maureen walks up to Peter who has been waiting for her. She repeats her blackmail demand but Peter wants assurance that she won't keep coming back for more money.

"That's the fun of blackmail. The party never ends."

Peter warns Maureen that the Williams family are very well connected in Hollywood and could ruin her career. He gives her a cheque for $50 000 and warns her to stay away from him. "Watch your step. One can never be too careful."

Over breakfast, Chandler apologizes to Heather over Gwen having her arrested for embezzlement. To make her feel better, he gives her a pair of diamond and emeral earrings. In the background, a bartender watches Heather suspiciously and walks over.

"Heather! Heather Lewis!"

Heather says he must be confused. Her name is Heather Williams. The bartender insists they went to high school together in Pittsburgh. Chandler says Heather was from Cleveland and orders him to leave them alone. Heather is suddenly on edge and walks out.

Samantha is searching the offices for Peter when David and Jennie arrive for a board meeting. Laurie snaps at Jennie for being late. David tells Jennie he is sick of being caught between the battling Williams sisters.

On the way into the boardroom, Samantha finds Peter who says he was not at the house this morning because of an early meeting.

Jack begins but Peter interrupts and says he has an announcement to make. Samantha pulls him outside before he can mention the engagement.

Heather bumps into Peter into the hallway and accuses him of sleeping with another woman last night.

"Retract the claws Heather. I'm monogamous now and I don't appreciate the inference."
"Oh come on Peter. Cheating is such a hard habit to break."
"Well you should know Heather. You're the grand marshall of the parade." Peter chuckles.
Heather pulls a face and walks off.

Eve the secretary hands Peter a stash of messages from Maureen and he goes to his office where Samantha is waiting. She reveals she doesn't want to announce their engagement until Peter asks her grandfather for her hand in marriage. Peter did not know the man was still alive but Samantha says he was estranged from her mother when she married a man he disapproved of. After her mother's death, Sam got reacquainted with her grandfather. She wants to take Peter up to his vineyard in the Napa Valley and is pleased when he agrees.
